2002 Pontiac WS6-LS1-6 Speed-20K Miles

Starting Vehicle History Content Piece for the 2002 Pontiac WS6 in Victory Red

In the final years of Pontiac's storied muscle car legacy, the 2002 Firebird WS6 emerged as a pinnacle of performance and style. Produced during the last model year of the fourth-generation Firebird, the WS6 stood as a tribute to everything that made Pontiac a performance brand—from raw V8 power to aggressive styling and track-ready hardware. Equipped with the factory LS1 5.7L V8 and paired to a desirable 6-speed manual transmission, this WS6 was a celebration of naturally aspirated American power at its finest.

Pontiac introduced the WS6 performance package as a high-output option for the Trans Am and Formula trims, and by 2002, it had reached its peak form. With Ram Air induction, sport suspension, and a low, wide stance, the WS6 was instantly recognizable by its twin nostril hood and menacing posture. Production of the Firebird ceased after the 2002 model year, making this example one of the last of its kind—especially significant given its remarkable condition and originality.

Finished in factory Code “U8774” Victory Red—a bold, high-impact color that made the already aggressive WS6 lines pop—this car wears its heritage proudly. The exterior remains largely original, with a few well-documented touch-ups including a respray on the driver’s side fender and door. Otherwise, the paint still displays beautifully, complemented by the signature 17-inch OE WS6 alloy wheels wrapped in 275/40 series tires.

Under the hood resides the numbers-matching 350 cubic inch (5.7L) LS1 V8, a modern icon of General Motors engineering. Producing a factory-rated 325 horsepower, the LS1 in the WS6 trim made this one of the fastest American cars of its time. This particular example retains its stock exhaust manifolds, crossover, catalytic converters, and tailpipes—preserving both its original tone and its collector value. Mated to the T56 6-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear end, the car delivers a hands-on, analog driving experience that's becoming increasingly rare.

Showing only 20,175 actual miles on the odometer, this WS6 has been exceptionally well preserved over its three-owner life, all in Pennsylvania. The CarFax confirms a clean history with no accidents or damage, and 14 documented service records that indicate consistent care over the years. Early service visits show regular maintenance, oil changes, and inspections, while more recent records confirm continued upkeep through 2024. The undercarriage, suspension, and steering components all remain original and check out clean, offering further evidence of how well this vehicle was stored and maintained.

The factory black leather interior (Code “19I”) complements the vivid exterior with a purposeful, cockpit-like environment. Original throughout, the cabin features supportive bucket seats with a power driver’s side, a center console with floor shifter, and a factory Monsoon AM/FM CD stereo system. The dash and controls retain their clean factory layout, with modern comforts like power windows, locks, mirrors, cruise control, tilt steering, intermittent wipers, and cold-blowing A/C fully functional. Even the T-top roof panels remain in place—an iconic staple of the F-body experience.

Performance-oriented hardware includes front and rear sway bars, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control, and power rack-and-pinion steering. This WS6 remains stock mechanically, ensuring its originality, and according to PC Classic Cars, it "drives like a new car"—a claim well supported by its low mileage and clean mechanical inspection.

In a market that increasingly values originality and unmodified examples, this 2002 WS6 stands out not only for its rare Victory Red finish and factory 6-speed combo but also for its impressive preservation and history. With window sticker and original documentation included, it offers both a visceral driving experience and strong collector credentials.
