1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra / 5.0 / 5 Speed / 57K Miles

1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra – 5.0L V8 / 5-Speed Manual / 57K Miles

When Ford introduced the fourth-generation Mustang in 1994, it marked a major transformation for the beloved pony car. The Fox-body era had come to an end, making way for the all-new SN-95 platform—a refined yet aggressive evolution of the Mustang nameplate. But for those craving the ultimate performance package, the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) delivered something special: the 1994 Mustang SVT Cobra.

With a factory-rated 240 horsepower from its high-output 5.0L V8, the '94 Cobra wasn't just a step above the standard GT—it was a finely tuned machine built for enthusiasts. Only 5,009 Cobras were produced that year, making it a desirable collector's piece today.

This particular Rio Red example (paint code: E8) is a stunning survivor with just 57,774 actual miles on the odometer. Delivered new to Dick Witham Ford in Waterloo, Iowa, it retains its original, numbers-matching 5.0L V8 and 5-speed manual transmission, ensuring an authentic driving experience. From its factory-stock exhaust to its original VIN tags in place, this Cobra represents a true time capsule of 1990s Mustang performance.

Factory-Equipped for Performance & Comfort

Built in July 1994, this SVT Cobra came well-equipped from the factory, featuring a 3.08 Traction-Lok rear axle, four-wheel disc brakes, and a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system—all contributing to a balanced and confident driving feel. The factory air conditioning blows ice cold, ensuring comfort on summer drives, while power accessories such as power windows, locks, and mirrors add convenience.

The interior sports the original Saddle cloth bucket seats (trim code: 2S), paired with a center console and power-adjustable driver seat for added comfort. The AM/FM cassette stereo with an 80-watt premium sound systemremains intact, a nostalgic touch from the era when mixtapes ruled the road.

Well-Preserved & Unmodified

Unlike many Cobras that have been modified over the years, this example remains remarkably original. The stock headers, stock exhaust system, and original intake components keep this Cobra true to its roots. Even the factory 17-inch polished aluminum 5-spoke wheels have been replaced with Cobra R wheels wrapped in fresh Nitto tires (245/45 front, 275/40 rear), maintaining a period-correct look while enhancing grip.

The undercarriage remains exceptionally clean and original, showing only minor aging, and the factory rocker moldings, rear spoiler, and Cobra badging are all in place. The Marti Report confirms this Cobra is one of only 464 produced in this exact paint and trim combination, adding to its rarity.

Documented History & Provenance

With a clean Carfax and five documented owners, this Cobra has been well cared for over the years. It spent the majority of its life in Iowa, with a meticulous history of ownership and regular servicing. The Marti Report, all VIN tags, and original components further verify its authenticity, making it a prime example of an unmolested '94 Cobra.

Final Thoughts

The 1994 Mustang SVT Cobra represented the pinnacle of Mustang performance in its era, and this well-preserved, low-mileage example stands as a testament to Ford’s commitment to speed and style. With its iconic Rio Red paint, 5.0L V8 power, 5-speed manual transmission, and a rare factory build combination, this Cobra is a fantastic find for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
