1992 Ford F-350 Dually / 460 / Automatic / AC / 37K Miles

1992 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Dually – A Lone Star Legend with Just 37K Miles

In the heart of Texas, where durability meets heritage, this 1992 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Dually has carved out a quiet legacy. With just 37,110 actual miles, this heavy-duty hauler is more than a truck — it’s a rare survivor from the final years of Ford’s iconic 7th-generation pickup design, beautifully preserved and still ready to work or cruise with confidence.

A Glimpse Into 1992: Ford's Heavy-Hitter

By 1992, Ford's F-Series had already cemented its reputation as the backbone of American trucking. The ninth generation brought refinements to ride quality and interior comfort without compromising workhorse capability. For buyers seeking brute strength blended with modern features, the F-350 Crew Cab Dually with the 7.5L EFI 460 V8 was the top-of-the-line option — offering unparalleled towing power and spacious room for six adults.

This particular example rolled off the line in April 1992 at Ford’s Ontario plant and was originally sold through Everett Hooks Ford in Granbury, Texas. Built with a 168" wheelbase, 10,000 lb GVWR, and an extra-long bed, it came factory-equipped with the Camper Package, Handling Package, Clearance Lights, and the XLT Lariat Package, setting it apart as a well-optioned, high-spec model.

Power, Comfort, and Originality

Under the hood, this F-350 retains its original fuel-injected 7.5L 460 V8, mated to the E4OD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. According to the Marti Report, only 2,720 units were built in 1992 with this engine/transmission combo — a nod to its rarity. The drivetrain is enhanced with dual fuel tanks, power steering, and power front disc brakes, while a factory smog pump and original D9TE-AE block casting reflect its untouched originality.

The mechanical integrity of this truck is exceptional — with newer front shocks and calipers, tight steering, and a suspension setup that includes front and rear sway bars plus a steering stabilizer shock. It starts, runs, drives, and stops exactly as expected from a truck that’s spent its entire life under Texas skies.

Classic Two-Tone, True Texas Style

Dressed in its factory-correct Dark Mocha Metallic and Medium Mocha (DW/DJ) paint with pinstriping and cab lights, this F-350 wears its age proudly. The mostly original exterior includes 16” steel wheels fitted with fresh 215/85 tires, a spray-in bed liner, and adjustable tow mirrors. A tailgate replacement and trailer brake controller signal its readiness for serious hauling. Subtle aftermarket touches like rain deflectors, mud flaps, and running boards enhance practicality.

Despite decades of light use, the truck presents well. All door jambs and inner structures are original, with the undercarriage showing only minor corrosion consistent with age. A repainted hood adds fresh appeal, while the factory grille and bumpers, though aged, remain intact and honest.

Inside the Mocha Cabin

The cabin feels like a well-preserved time capsule from the early '90s. Upholstered in Mocha Cloth (GKD), the bench seat, original dash, and tight headliner all remain in great shape. From the Ford AM/FM Cassette stereo to the tilt column, cruise control, intermittent wipers, and power windows/locks, everything functions as it should — even the factory AC, now converted to R134A, blows cold.

According to the check-in report, the rear doors do not lock and the driver-side running board lights are inoperative, but the essentials — drivetrain, electronics, and interior amenities — all perform admirably. It’s accompanied by original keys, an overhead console, and a digital odometer, all affirming this truck’s low-mileage authenticity.

Ownership History: Low Miles, Long-Term Texas Roots

With only three Texas owners over its 33-year history, this F-350 has been gently driven and well documented, as reflected in its clean CarFax. Owner #1 held the truck for over 21 years, putting just over 27,000 miles on it. The second owner, based in Terrell, Texas, drove it sparingly until 2022, when it transitioned to its final pre-PC Classic Cars chapter. The odometer shows a consistent and believable mileage history, verified by decades of Texas inspection records.
