1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS / 5.0 V8 / 700R4 / AC / 53K Miles

1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS – A Time Capsule of Third-Gen Performance

The 1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS stands as an iconic representation of the third-generation Camaro, which spanned from 1982 to 1992. By the early '90s, Chevrolet had refined the Camaro’s aerodynamic styling and performance to deliver a vehicle that balanced power and everyday drivability. The RS trim, short for “Rally Sport,” was the stylish, entry-level performance package that carried aggressive bodywork, enhanced aerodynamics, and reliable V8 power.

This particular 1991 Camaro RS, finished in its factory-original Dark Teal Metallic (WA9238) paint, has been repainted to maintain its striking presence. With only 53,694 actual miles, this well-preserved example embodies the best of late third-gen Camaros, featuring a 5.0L V8 mated to the 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission. This drivetrain provided a balance of power and efficiency, making the Camaro RS a standout in its era.

Performance & Drivetrain

Under the hood, this Camaro retains its matching-numbers 305 cubic-inch (5.0L) V8, paired with electronic fuel injection for smooth and reliable performance. The 700R4 automatic transmission, a staple of GM performance vehicles at the time, offers overdrive capability, making highway cruising effortless.

To complement its strong V8 power, this Camaro features:
Power Steering for easy maneuverability
Power Front Disc Brakes for confident stopping power
Front and Rear Sway Bars for enhanced handling

The factory exhaust setup remains largely intact, with stock exhaust manifolds, a stock catalytic converter, and a DynoMax muffler routing through original-style tailpipes.

Exterior & Wheels

The Camaro RS retains its third-gen styling cues, including a lower front valance, rocker moldings, and a factory rear spoiler. It sits on 16-inch OE wheels wrapped in 235/55 tires from 2023, ensuring a period-correct look while offering modern grip and performance.

Comfort & Interior Features

Inside, the cabin showcases a well-preserved Gray Leather Interior (Factory Code 82L), staying true to its original factory specifications. Chevrolet’s third-gen interiors were designed for driver engagement, and this example retains:

Bucket Seats with Center Console & Floor Shifter
Power Windows & Power Locks
Factory Tachometer (noted to read incorrectly)
Pioneer CD/AM/FM Auto Super Tuner for upgraded audio

Despite its age, the factory air conditioning has been converted to R134A and continues to blow cold, ensuring comfort on warm days. An aluminum radiator with a metric fan has been added to maintain optimal cooling efficiency.

History & Condition

This Camaro comes with a clean CARFAX report, with no accidents or damage reported throughout its life. Originally titled in Florida, the vehicle later moved to North Carolina and Tennessee, where it remained well-maintained with a folder of receipts and original documentation, including the window sticker.

The undercarriage remains solid and original, with factory undercoating present on inner fenders, rockers, and floor pans. Notably, the vehicle features only minor aging and surface wear, a testament to its careful ownership.

A Well-Preserved Example of a Classic Camaro

With its low mileage, original drivetrain, and clean history, this 1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS is a prime example of a late third-gen F-body. It embodies the era when American muscle cars began integrating modern technology while retaining the heart of raw V8 performance.

For those who appreciate classic American performance, timeless styling, and well-documented originality, this Camaro RS is a standout piece of muscle car history.
