1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport / Original 400 / Automatic / AC

The 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport stands as a tribute to an era when muscle cars ruled American roads, blending style, power, and comfort into a single, iconic package. This particular Gran Torino Sport, finished in its original "5A" Light Pewter Metallic paint, exudes timeless appeal. With a factory build date of December 12, 1972, this car left Ford’s Lorain, Ohio plant equipped with a potent 400 cubic inch "S-Code" V8 engine and a C6 Select Shift automatic transmission. It was one of only 40 vehicles produced with this unique paint and trim combination, underscoring its rarity.

The Gran Torino’s styling was accentuated by factory laser stripes, wheel lip moldings, and 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in modern BFG tires. The interior showcases the “FF” code Ginger vinyl split bench seat, providing both comfort and a nostalgic 70s vibe. The dash features rally gauges with a tachometer, and while the original dash clock is non-functional, the rest of the interior retains its classic charm, with a working Philco AM radio and functional dome light with map lights.

Under the hood, the matching-numbers 400 V8 engine retains its original manifolds and breathes through dual exhaust with aftermarket mufflers. The engine bay remains largely stock in appearance, contributing to the car’s authentic feel. The factory SelectAire air conditioning has been upgraded to R134A and blows cold, ensuring modern comfort on warm cruising days. Power steering and power front disc brakes add to the driving ease, while the car's suspension is enhanced by front and rear sway bars.

The undercarriage tells a story of preservation and care, with mostly original components showing minor aging and repairs where needed. The floor pans are original and in good condition, while the trunk maintains its factory appearance with only minor aging visible. The 9-inch rear differential and solid suspension components contribute to the Gran Torino’s balanced ride quality.

This car was delivered through the Omaha District Sales Office and spent part of its life in Florida, as indicated by its title. It comes with a comprehensive Marti Report, the original Ford invoice, and a collection of receipts and paperwork, providing valuable documentation for its next chapter. With just 5,777 miles showing on the odometer (although not verified as actual), this Torino Sport offers a remarkable glimpse into its preserved state.

Overall, this 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport is more than just a classic car; it's a time capsule that captures the spirit of a bygone era. Its combination of classic aesthetics, powerful V8 performance, and a well-documented history makes it a true gem for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
