1990 Ford Mustang LX Coupe / 5.0 / 5 Speed / 82K Miles

1990 Ford Mustang LX Coupe – Canadian-Born 5.0 Fox-Body Time Capsule

Few vehicles capture the raw, analog spirit of American muscle in a compact coupe quite like the third-generation Ford Mustang. Produced from 1979 to 1993, these “Fox-body” Mustangs became an icon of performance and style—especially those equipped with Ford’s legendary 5.0L High Output V8. By 1990, the Mustang LX 5.0 Coupe had emerged as a favorite among enthusiasts for its lighter weight and sleeper appearance, offering pure performance in an unassuming package.

This 1990 Mustang LX Coupe, finished in its original “MA” Light Crystal Blue paint, stands as a remarkably well-preserved example. Built at the Dearborn assembly plant and destined for Central Canada, it was completed on February 27, 1990—six days ahead of schedule. According to the Deluxe Marti Report, it is one of only 43 built with this exact combination of paint and interior trim. That interior is a clean, all-original “AJ” code black cloth bucket seat setup, featuring a center console, floor shifter, and Ford’s factory AM/FM cassette stereo with clock.

What sets this Mustang apart is its authenticity. With just over 82,000 original miles (133,386 kilometers) and a clean CarFax confirming consistent mileage reporting and careful long-term ownership in Ontario, Canada, this LX Coupe retains its matching-numbers 5.0L SEFI HO V8 and T5 5-speed manual transmission. It remains largely stock from front to back, including the OE headers, factory catalytic converters, stock H-pipe, mufflers, and tailpipes—preserving the character and sound that made the Fox-body such a street legend.

This LX features the 2.73 Traction-Lok rear axle and rides on original 15-inch 10-hole wheels wrapped in fresh 225/60 Uniroyal rubber with a 2025 date code. Power steering and power front disc brakes make for confident control, while features like cruise control, a functioning tachometer, and a heavy-duty battery speak to its drivability. It was built without A/C—typical of Canadian-market cars—but its heater functions perfectly, as do all lights, indicators, and gauges per the PC Classic Cars mechanical checklist.

The undercarriage presents as clean and original, with only minor age-related corrosion—no surprises, and nothing concerning noted. The car’s suspension and steering components appear untouched and remain in excellent condition. Body-wise, the Light Crystal Blue finish is still the original color with all VIN tags in place. While select panels—including the doors and quarters—have seen prior repaint work, the overall presentation is true to factory spec and exceptionally solid for its age.

Inside, the interior shows as impressively clean for a 35-year-old car. From the functioning map light to the original stereo and operational manual windows and mirrors, it’s a delightfully analog environment that complements the driving experience. The clutch is described as slightly heavier than stock but operates as it should, providing firm and confident gear engagement—just as a Fox-body 5-speed should.

A proud product of HB Elliott Motor Sales in Renfrew, Ontario, this LX Coupe was originally ordered with Canadian-market equipment including a block heater, metric speedometer, and daytime running lights—a subtle nod to its heritage. With its clean Marti Report and CarFax, along with a strong inspection showing, this Mustang is a standout among surviving Fox-body coupes.
