1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28 / Tuned Port 5.0 / 700R4 / AC / 40K Miles

🔥1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28 – A Tuned-Port Time Capsule🔥

When the 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28 hit the streets, it represented a perfect fusion of bold ‘80s styling and track-tuned performance. Named after the International Race of Champions, the IROC-Z package elevated the third-generation Camaro into a street-legal track warrior. With its aggressive stance, race-inspired suspension upgrades, and cutting-edge Tuned Port Injection, it quickly earned its place as an icon of the era.

That legacy roars to life again in this stunning Flame Red Metallic example, which preserves the spirit of 1986 with remarkable originality and only 40,721 actual miles on the odometer. It's a vehicle that has not only survived but thrived through nearly four decades, meticulously maintained and solid throughout—right down to its factory paperwork and clean CARFAX.

Performance, Power, and Presence

Under the hood lies the original 305ci 5.0L Tuned Port Injection V8, a major performance leap for the time and one of the most advanced setups GM offered in the ‘80s. Paired to the 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission, this powertrain delivers smooth shifts and responsive acceleration that made the IROC-Z a legend. The engine bay remains stock and tidy, with the TPI system intact, backed by factory manifolds, a crossover pipe, catalytic converter, and a Flowmaster muffler that adds a deep, throaty rumble.

Additional performance highlights include:

  • Bilstein rear shocks

  • Front and rear sway bars

  • Power front disc brakes

  • Power steering

  • 10-bolt rear end

The result is a car that feels planted and confident whether cruising the boulevard or hugging curves—exactly the kind of ride the IROC badge promises.

Exterior & Interior – Vintage Cool, Preserved

Originally finished in Code 74U Flame Red Metallic, this Camaro has been repainted in its factory-correct color and still turns heads with its iconic IROC-Z striping and 16-inch IROC-Z wheels wrapped in fresh 245/50ZR16 rubber. The body remains very solid underneath, true to its low-mileage status, with its doors, lighting, and trim functioning as expected. Though repainted, the finish holds its character and shines with pride.

Inside, the factory Code 82C Gray cloth bucket seat interior is largely original, offering a direct throwback to the mid-‘80s with its familiar driver-focused layout. It features:

  • Tilt steering column

  • Center console with console shifter

  • Tachometer

  • Cruise control

  • Power windows, locks, and deck lid release

  • Manual seats

  • Rear defrost

  • Intermittent wipers

  • Pioneer AM/FM/CD player

  • Escort radar detector

Air conditioning has been professionally converted to R134a and blows cold, ensuring modern-day comfort in vintage style. Even the original dash pad—now protected by a dash cap—speaks to its authenticity, while original carpets and headliner round out the time-capsule vibe.

Clean History, Clear Provenance

According to the CARFAX Vehicle History Report, this IROC-Z shows:

  • No accidents or damage reported

  • No structural issues

  • No odometer rollback (last reported at 39,917 miles)

  • Multiple title and registration entries, mostly in Colorado

  • Routine emissions testing and maintenance through the years

Included with the car are the build sheet, original paperwork, and miscellaneous receipts, adding depth to its story and confidence to its condition.
