1972 Chevrolet C10 SWB Pickup – A Classic with Modern Enhancements

Few trucks have earned their place in automotive history quite like the Chevrolet C10. Introduced as part of Chevy’s second-generation C/K lineup (1967-1972), the C10 blended utility, style, and comfort in a way that helped redefine the American pickup. By 1972, Chevrolet had perfected the formula, delivering a truck that was as at home on the job site as it was cruising Main Street.

This 1972 Chevrolet C10 SWB (short wheelbase) pickup is a shining example of the era’s best, blending timeless styling with modern enhancements that make it both a collector’s dream and a driver’s delight. With its strong 350 V8, classic stance, and refined upgrades, this truck retains its vintage appeal while benefiting from tasteful performance and comfort improvements.

Power and Performance

Under the hood, this C10 features a 350 cubic-inch V8, a legendary small-block that has powered everything from muscle cars to workhorses over the decades. While not the original engine, it runs strong and has been enhanced with an Edelbrock intake and carburetor, providing a performance boost and smooth acceleration. The Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission delivers seamless shifts, making this truck an easygoing cruiser.

A 12-bolt rear end ensures durability, and the ceramic headers paired with dual Flowmaster mufflers give the truck a deep, throaty exhaust note that announces its presence with authority. Power steering and power front disc brakesenhance the driving experience, offering excellent handling and confident stopping power.

Exterior Excellence

Originally finished in White and Dark Blue (paint code 157220), this C10 now wears an older White Pearl repaint, giving it a classic yet refined look. The 22-inch Intro polished wheels, wrapped in staggered 265/30 front and 285/40 rear tires, add a bold custom touch while maintaining a balanced stance.

Though showing signs of age in certain areas, the truck maintains a solid presence, with spray-in bed liner protection and modifications to accommodate wider rear wheel wells. The in-frame fuel tank further streamlines the rear bed design, moving the fill nozzle to the center rear floor.

Interior Comfort & Features

Inside, the C10 retains its classic layout but has received thoughtful updates. Originally outfitted with a Blue cloth interior (code 160710), it now sports a factory-style Black interior that pairs beautifully with the exterior. The bench seat and column shifter maintain the vintage truck feel, while the Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo adds modern audio convenience.

A Vintage Air A/C system ensures comfortable cruising, delivering cold air for those warm summer drives. Meanwhile, an aftermarket oil pressure gauge is neatly integrated into the factory location, providing essential engine monitoring without disrupting the truck’s classic dash design.

Underneath the Surface

The truck’s undercarriage reflects its well-preserved nature, with undercoated floor pans and solid wheel wells. The suspension and steering components have been checked and perform well, ensuring a smooth and controlled ride. While there are signs of age and previous work done to the body, the structure remains sound.

Mechanically, all key systems function as they should, including the headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and wipers. The heater and A/C operate properly, and the dash lights, radio, and shift indicator are in working order.

A Timeless Classic with Personality

This 1972 Chevrolet C10 SWB pickup embodies the best of both worlds—classic styling with tasteful upgrades for enhanced performance and comfort. Its combination of a strong 350 V8, Vintage A/C, 22-inch wheels, and power steering/brakes make it a well-rounded classic that’s both show-worthy and road-ready. Whether admired at a car meet or enjoyed on weekend drives, this C10 stands as a tribute to Chevy’s golden era of pickups.
