Time Capsule Feature: 1972 Chevrolet C10 SWB Pickup – Teal Pearl Power with a Houndstooth Heart

Few pickups have carved out as loyal a following or iconic a silhouette as the 1972 Chevrolet C10. Representing the final chapter in the second generation of GM’s groundbreaking "Action Line" trucks (1967–1972), the '72 model offered a perfect blend of style, strength, and smooth ride quality. As the last year before major body and chassis updates, it featured refinements like the egg-crate grille, front disc brakes as standard equipment, and a high-water mark in overall build quality and option diversity. These short wheelbase (SWB) trucks, in particular, have become among the most sought-after configurations for enthusiasts and collectors.

A Bold Second Life: Restored, Upgraded, and Raring to Go

This 1972 Chevrolet C10 SWB Pickup, wearing a vivid Teal paint infused with Gold pearl, stands as a bold reinterpretation of its original "506 Dark Olive" factory color. The body retains its original short bed proportions, confirmed by the factory SPID decal, and sits confidently over a set of 20" polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, wrapped in fresh 2024-dated Sumitomo HTRZ5 tires (245/45 front, 275/40 rear).

Power comes from a strong-running 350ci small block V8, enhanced with a Holley carburetor and Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake—a classic power duo delivering the vintage muscle truck sound and performance you'd expect. The engine isn't original, but it’s more than up to the task, paired seamlessly with a Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission. A 12-bolt rear end, dual exhaust with Flow FX mufflers, and full tailpipes with polished tips complete the powertrain, giving this truck both bark and bite.

Mechanical comfort was clearly a focus in its build: power steering, power front disc brakes, and front and rear lowering springs transform the ride into something confident and cruiser-friendly. Underneath, the frame and suspension components have been refreshed and show very solid condition, affirming its readiness for both street and show.

Classic Cues Inside, with a Custom Twist

Step inside and you’re greeted by a high-contrast black and white houndstooth bench seat, an elegant nod to period-correct Chevrolet styling, now riding in place of the truck's original Olive Vinyl interior (code 631). A Lecarra steering wheel and column shifter enhance the driver’s connection to the road, while an Alpine AM/FM cassette radio and six-by-nine door speakers preserve the truck’s vintage audio flair. The plush-style carpet and aftermarket headliner elevate the interior’s finish.

Comfort isn't sacrificed, either. An Old Air Products A/C system blows cold—a standout upgrade in any vintage pickup. Manual windows and locks maintain the truck’s analog feel, while thoughtful touches like a spray-in bed liner, bed cover, and tinted windows make this truck as functional as it is visually arresting.

Details That Tell a Story

The odometer reads just 6,214 miles, though actual mileage cannot be verified. Still, the mechanical and cosmetic condition speaks volumes: this truck was built to drive, enjoy, and admire. The undercarriage is notably solid and clean, a testament to dry-climate history and careful ownership.

Its original-appearing engine bay shows off neatly painted components, with black-finished inner fenders and firewall, complementing the Teal bodywork. The dash and door panels show light aging but retain vintage charm, with minor touch-ups noted during inspection. Subtle imperfections remind us this is a true classic—not over-restored, but well-loved and mechanically dialed-in.
