1971 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible – A Small Block Classic with Factory AC and Vintage Flair

By the early 1970s, Chevrolet’s Corvette had evolved into a powerful American icon—blending sleek design, competitive performance, and a reputation for innovation. The 1971 model year marked the second in the C3 generation, which had introduced the Corvette's dramatic "shark" styling just a few years prior. Amid tightening emissions regulations and growing insurance rates, the 1971 Corvette retained its muscle car persona while integrating more creature comforts, making it a beloved bridge between raw 1960s power and 1970s sophistication.

This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible stands as a testament to that balance. Finished in a vibrant orange respray that catches sunlight with vintage magnetism, it's topped with a manual white convertible roof that completes its quintessential early-‘70s roadster appeal. The body remains solid with a clean undercarriage and stock appearance throughout. Though the original trim tag is missing, the current finish is strikingly suited to the car’s era and aura.

Under the hood, a GM crate 350 cubic inch V8 with center-bolt heads replaces the original small block, delivering a confident rumble through stock manifolds and dual exhaust. Mated to a Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission, this setup ensures smooth and reliable cruising. Power steering and power four-wheel disc brakes enhance drivability, while a factory air conditioning system—converted to modern R134A refrigerant—keeps the cockpit cool even in Texas heat. The car runs and drives great, with a suspension that’s been refreshed in areas, including newer shocks and front ball joints.

Step inside, and you're greeted with a stock-style black interior that retains its original spirit. Bucket seats flank a center console with a floor shifter and factory tachometer, embodying Corvette’s sporty character. While the cabin shows patina consistent with its age—such as aged trim, carpet, and a missing radio faceplate—it adds to the car’s authenticity and charm as a time capsule from a golden era.

This Corvette rides on 15” Rally wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich 225/70 tires, providing classic style and confident road presence. The vehicle also features an aluminum radiator for added cooling efficiency, a power antenna, and manual windows and locks. With only 15,767 miles showing on the odometer (actual mileage unverified), it presents as a well-preserved driver’s classic—comfortable, charismatic, and ready to cruise.

Backed by a clean undercarriage and a driveline that’s eager for open roads, this 1971 Corvette convertible reflects the excitement of its era. The presence of rare factory A/C, a strong-performing crate motor, and timeless styling ensure its place as a standout example of Chevrolet’s legendary sports car.
